Or do you flounder/founder in the ocean of words?
Read this paragraph and pick the right word to see how much you actually know...
Sometimes, when I'm reading, I just can't figure out whether a word has a positive or negative connotation/denotation! I just get altogether/all together baffled and usually end up trying to use the grammar/syntax to figure out what the word implies/infers. My method isn't very expedient/expeditious, and I usually feel pitiable/pitiful until I get a dictionary. But, after I've augmented/supplemented my verbal knowledge by looking up the word, I feel better because I know that no one can gibe/jibe at me anymore for misusing it.
How'd you do? Confounded/Confused by these words' actual usage? Then the Artful Nuance by Rod L. Evans is for you. Clearly demonstrating proper usage for some of English's most common mishaps, this book will have you bragging/boasting to your friends about your oh-so-proper vocabulary in no time.
